We usually do take outs on weekends but went their for lunch on weekday and thoroughly enjoyed it. It didn't look big buffet but wow had lots of varieties to eat and especially fresh nan and tandoori chicken. Not big on Indian desserts too sweet for me. Food is great we really enjoyed the lunch buffet and service is fast and courteous.
Mmmmm we have been here twice now and the food is amazing! The garlic naan bread, oh my!!! You can never go wrong with having this fresh, hot, made to order Indian cuisine. Enjoy! :-)
We are pretty much regulars their food has been amazing all the time. We took our relatives their from England and they praised the flavours and taste of signature. We had their samosa, pakoras my fav, lamb piazza, mushroom cheese curry, mashed eggplant tandoori chicken, garlic nan and peas and mushroom pilau. Great meal and service don't forget the kingfisher in chilled frosted glass. Just to mention mint chutney was spicy but good.
We've been to Signature in the past and it was acceptable but not this time. The 3 main dishes did not taste great and the naan was rubbery beyond description. We had leftovers but I threw them out, it was so bad. Whitby needs a good Indian restaurant but this isn't it!!
A very good meal and attentive service. The plac is on hwy 2 and it's food stands out . I had Indian food elsewhere many times but it's nice and flavorful here. Must try its worth it.
The food was ok to good but there was just very, very little of it. We ordered a mixed platter, when it arrived at the table we both looked behind the waitress to see if the next 2 were on the way. Sad to say, it was just that one. We were extremely disappointed in serving size. We ended up eating again when we got home! The atmosphere was like A&W playing Inidian music in the back ground. The table and chairs were very generic, coke machine behind the cash. The service was extremely slow, very nice people, buy extremely slow. We're not ready to say we'll never go back. We are going to stop in during lunch time when the have a buffet. Hopefully its all you can eat so we can actually get a meal out of it, but our next sit down diner we'll make the drive into Toronto for authentic Indian food.
Absolutely the best Indian Cuisine I've ever tasted! Everytime we go, the food is always fantastic! We always get the butter chicken, beef curry and nan bread and we always leave wanting more!
About 5 of us "girls" went for an evening out. The dishes were small (but in a way fantastic - we ordered 5 dishes and shared...just perfect!)...the tastes incredible. While the service was a bit slow at times it wasn't that outrageous. We were there for 7:20 on a Friday night and the place was packed! Also worthy to note that for 5 people with healthy appetites, we spent $25 each that included a drink. WHAT a great find!...if your looking for Indian in Durham region - this is it! When your looking for the restaurant, its on the south side of Hwy2, in the strip mall same as the goodwill shop
Everything takes too long Was looking forward to thie restuarant after reading some reviews here. Somewhat disappointed with the service, atmosphere and cost. Went there for the first time this past Friday. Ordered butter chicken along with a lamb dish. The butter chicken came in a cute little dish. Too bad the serving size left a lot to be desired. Where we get two dishes at other Indian restaurants we had to get three here. No naans or rice included either Butter Chicken was good but the lamb spinach was just about OK. The size of the naans also smaller than most places. The atmosphere bland and too bright. Service was the worst. Water didn't come for 1/2 hr. Food took 45 minutes.. extra naans about 20 minutes and my beer 15 minutes. Having eaten at Indian restaurants over the world..first time and last here.. there are better and less expensive choices a few minutes to the west.
I've read a lot of good reviews for this restaurant, and it's quite the hidden gem in Whitby. For our first visit to Signature, we decided to do the Dinner buffet to get a sampling of what they had to offer. Food: Even though we came for the dinner buffet, the food tasted very fresh. The sauces were rich in flavour, with the right amount of seasoning and oils. Definately order the Naan bread; it comes out freshly made, well crusted on the outside and soft on in the inside. I really enjoyed their Onion Bhaji, Butter Chicken, Beef Vindaloo, Goat Curry, Baghre Baigan - these are definately worth a try. The desserts that I had, I wasn't too crazy about, however, I'm not a big fan of Indian desserts to begin with, but I would say they are still good for those who enjoy it. Services: The servers were friendly and quick to take away our plates so that we had a fresh table to come back to everytime we went up for seconds. It was adequate. I was surprised that all the servers were Caucasians...this is the first time I've been to an Indian restaurant with Caucasian staff! I was amused. Atmosphere: It's a cute little place. Nicely lit, not too overly decorated. Overall, I would visit this place again and would definately order from their regular menu. The food was good, and the service and atmoshpere was ok. I noticed there were a lot of people coming in who had called for pick up orders. I think I'll be doing take out next time rather than dining in, so that I can eat this with a good Bollywood movie.
THE very BEST Indian restaurant I've had the pleasure of visiting during in my 23 years in Canada. Being a Brit, and a connoisseur of east Indian food (since it is readily available at almost every street corner of every town in the UK), I have to say that the food at this restaurant is the best I've ever tasted in the GTA/Durham region of Ontario. Would I visit again? ABSOLUTELY! No question about it!
The butter chicken was excellent - a fragrant sauce with the right amount of tomato and cream and spice balance generously coating the tender chicken breast chunks. .The Tandoori Chicken was slightly cheaper than average, and tasted real good. The main thing I enjoyed was the Naan - its the staple for me when finding a good restaurant. The bread is soft and doughy, and seems to stay soft throughout the meal. The mango juice is a must here and good selection of Indian Beer my fav is Cobra , I was almost completely stuffed, but had quite a bit left so I asked if they could pack it up, and they did so promptly and with a genuine smile The service was good. Server was polite, didnt rush us to leave, and our order was processed quickly. The ambience is ok saw lot of people coming and taking takeouts. If you like Indian food I think Signature is the best in east end/ Durham.. try it highly recommended.....
The food here is great, the best Indian I think I've ever had, so tasty. the downside is the lights are so bright and it's very quiet. What is it about some restaurants being quiet and other not... it's a strange phenom, should do a study on it really... anyways. If they dimmed the lights, that could help. So for now it's just takeout.
The food is great, the service is very good, however the atmosphere is well... not that great. The lights were too bright, and the music quiet, and the atmosphere too quiet and not lively. You feel as if you need to whisper when talking. Mind you there were only a few other groups. I find this for alot of Indian restaurants... but anyways. Amazing food. I forget exactly what we had, but we def. had Samosas (amazing, the crust I swear is pie crust, but it taste great!), Onion Bhajis or something like that (amazing), Butter Chicken (yum), Lentil type dish (again awesome), something with saffron which was amazing, and a few other dishes. Great food. I felt really bad about the atmosphere and I was almost going to mention something to them but didn't. I think we'll just get takeout from now on, which is too bad, maybe they'll dim the lights! I've been to many Indian restaurants and the food here I think is the best I've tried.
I've never been inside the place, but had to rate the atmosphere. Gave it a blind 3-star. Have ordered take-out from here many times. The food is delicious, and the service is friendly. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone searching for good Indian food. Yum. Edit: The last time I ordered take-out from here, they forgot to deliver my pop. When I called the restaurant, they gave me a choice between delivering my pop that night, or a $10.00 discount on my next order. And they were so friendly about it. What great customer service, on top of the really great food.
we have been here several times and ordered takeout and have always enjoyed their food. Service was excellent the server was very knowledgable recommending dishes as well as beer /wine to enjoy with the meal.We have ordered different items every time and enjoyed everyone.
If you like to get stuck in stop and go traffic, look for a parking place for 1/2 hour, and pay too much for your meal, then go to the Toronto area Indian restaurants. But if you want some fantastic Indian food for a great price, that's easy to get to, go to Signature! I ate there tonight for the 2nd time and I had another great meal for under 20 bucks, and had some food left for lunch tomorrow, too. The owner/manager/chef works very hard to prepare great dishes for his customers. I had Chicken Madras tonight and, again, like the first meal I ate there, there was NO fat or scraps on the pieces of chicken, the Onion Kalcha was fantastic, and the rice was perfect, and the total, including tax, was only $19.20! The food was not greasy, and everything tasted fresh. You absolutely have to try is place if you like Indian food. It isn't real grand looking from the outside, but who sits out there anyway?? The food is FANTASTIC and you can't beat the prices!!
I did the Take Out on Saturday Nov 7 for 6 people and let me tell you it was one of the best Indian meals I had in a long time. We moved from Toronto to brooklin and as Indian food is in everycorner in toronto so I pretty much grew up eating that.. I searched the indian restaurant in whitby and this place showed up and I am very pleased with the quality and the quantity this restaurant provides. Great Meal..
Like the food alot, it sgood to have spiced Indian Taste in Whitby after a long time. We went there for Lunch hoping to eat the buffet as ususal all Indian restaurant, but signatutre didn't have it. We sat down and looked at their lunch menu I must say wow what a price they offer. we ordered different combos and specails..The quantity is more then sufficent and overall the food is fresh and cooked to order not like reheated buffet. I was with my cowork ers and we all were impressed by the food and service as well. I really recommend this Indian restaurant .... if you are looking for good indian taste and flavours.
I am continually surprised by the quality and value for money this restaurant offers. The food not only looks exquisite on the plate, but it taste fresh unlike greasy buffet . I should say that the service was excellent, server was friendly & very professional, lunch combo's- thalee at other places was amazing for the price of $9.99/-, Tandoori chicken, Naan, Butter Chicken,Pulav rice, salad with refreshing mango dressing, the lamb curry and more ,are all outstanding, the food & service compensates for their interior which is ok…. I have recommended this place to many people and we thoroughly enjoyed the lunch..
