15 years ago, when I visited Wok's Taste with my dad, the food was amazing. The food was tasty and feels home-cook. 2 weeks ago, on my visit from Beijing, I was dismayed to find the food to be heavily laden with MSG and salt. The sauces were too gooey due to the load of cornstarch. The use of commercial and instant sauces and broth lends an artificial taste to the soup and dishes. While tasty, I wouldn't say its a healthy choice. Last week, my husband and I stumbled upon a newer Chinese restaurant in Woodlawn (can't remember the name of the restaurant, but its non-buffet and serve seafood as well. The food was delicious and the price is good. It was definitely a more authentic, healthier and tastier choice. They do use more natural ingredients such as ginger, garlic, lemongrass in their dishes, which lends a more authentic and healthier choice to Chinese food. This is the Chinese food that I remember.
