Resently our lovable11 yr old German sheppard dog that we had from birth became ill and the staff at the hospital were the most compassionate people that anyone would be happy to know. When Dr. Betty explained to us that he was in quite a bit of pain and he would only have a couple of days left she was visably upset and sad that a member of our family would not be with us any longer.
Thank you to all the staff from Harley for all the wonderful care that you gave me.
I phoned to ask for a quote to check my cat for ear mites. Wouldn't give me a quote, but gave me a lecture instead.
Has your cat been here before
Has he been vaccinated, if not won't check him unless he has
He might be overweight
He might have other medical problems that require checking
Pets require regular checkups..blah blah blah
I mentioned that he is an indoor cat. Receptionist very saracastically tells me.."well, if he's an indoor cat how on earth would he get ear mites!!" In all honesty, he goes out sometimes but he is always tied on a short string, and is not allowed to roam the neighborhood..but still. Then she made some kind of comment about him being an outdoor cat.
After all of this I never got a price for an exam. I was kind of sick of her tone, told her that I guess they couldn't help me after all, and hung up. I guess they were more concerned with making a profit off of every other procedure except the blasted ear check. Typical. Vet visits these days are not cheap, and with me not working, the usual $50 and up just to walk thru the door is staggering. I don't have a problem taking him to the vet, I just don't like them pushing every other costly procedure under the sun on me...like a salesperson...then being cheesed off when I say no.
