Tonsorial art is the craft and James Rattée a master. Born and raised in England, James became interested in becoming a barber at the young age of 15 and has never looked back. Trained in London, he honed his skills during a three-year apprenticeship and mastered his craft for two years as an improver. Immigrating to Canada in 1958, James opened the doors of Rattée Hairstyling the following year and at the height of his busy career he had expanded to six shops around Vancouver.
These days, you’ll find James and his team at 2455 Burrard Street, where Rattée Hairstyling has been a permanent fixture since 1961.
Here you'll find careful, deliberate work by very friendly experts – the gentlemen of Rattée Hairstyling all take great pride in their work and are available by appointment. “We like to work on appointments. It’s better for our clients and it’s better for us,” explains James.
