I had a giant craving for Indian food, and headed here since it had quite a few positive reviews and was near my house.
When I arrived, no one greeted me at the door. I had to awkwardly wander in to inquire about take-out food. The server was helpful, but I didn't receive any sense of hospitality. I was obviously thirsty (as I biked there) and was not offered water while I waited. I was sitting at a table and was then asked to move for a dine-in party. I didn't mind, but she wasn't friendly about it at all. Also, considering I'm paying the same price as everyone else dining-in, I believe I should receive the same quality of service, which I definitely did not.
Speaking of prices, the food was far too expensive. The prices would have been acceptable if the Indian food was of a top-notch quality. However, much to my disappointment, when I tried the food (after arriving home), the food tasted nothing like Indian food I've had in the past, or even made myself! I got many of the same dishes I've made myself or ordered at other (better) Indian restaurants, and not one of them tasted as they should have. I am all for changing things up and trying new things, but this was not a positive change. I still ate the food and enjoyed it, but the flavours are no more than mediocre and I definitely wouldn't make the mistake of paying those high prices again.
When a young Canadian woman can make better Indian food than an authentic Indian restaurant, there is a problem.
Good location, it's a shame I will have to venture so far to order Indian food in Hamilton again.
