Marvin and Sherry Taylor have done a lot since they retired. In 2010, they opened Inside Avenue Antiques and it doubled in size less than five years later. The antique mall, which houses a wide variety of antique vendors and dealers, has been written about in the Calgary Herald and the CalgarySun and been featured on Global News. It’s one of the larger antique malls in Western Canada.
Inside Avenue Antiques has also been exceptionally popular with TV and film producers looking to add authentic flair to their shows or movies. The mall has supplied tables, lamps, sofas and other genre-specific furnishing for the CBC series Heartland and Young Drunk Punk, as well as historically accurate pieces to Fargo and Hell on Wheels, in addition to a number of feature films. It is an invaluable asset for local theatre groups such as Stage West and the Calgary Opera. “Basically, we’ve got it all,” Marvin says.
