John Di Ciommo, owner of Drumland, first picked up drumsticks at the age of 12 in his hometown of Hamilton, Ont. “Watching Keith Moon (of The Who) behind the drum set losing his mind on stage and hitting things — when I was a kid, it was wild to see how musical he was,” says John. And so began his lifelong passion for drums and percussion.
A drummer in his own right (he’s opened for Junkhouse and Big Sugar in the past), John describes his affinity for the instrument and those who play it: “I’ve always had a love and passion for the instrument itself, but also a fascination with people who play the instrument; the characters; drummers and the musician’s crazy lifestyle touring the world and playing. It’s true most of them were bonkers. I mean, where do you find characters like Ginger Baker (of Cream) today? But he did things in such a musical way and it was truly fascinating to watch. They don’t make these people anymore.”
I have been playing drums for many years and I have been very fortunate in meeting some wonderful fellow drummers who have become friends.
John Di Ciommo who is the President of Drumland in Woodbridge is one of these individuals. He is genuine, sincere and very professional in giving advice and suggesting what would best suit each and every drummers needs.
Drumland has fair and competitive pricing as well as a vast selection of products along with a great teaching staff. Cheers John!!!
