Heather Alinsangan first discovered meditation through yoga practice while living in Halifax. After moving to Toronto in 1998, Heather sought out a place in the city to learn more about meditation. After trying out a few centres and temples, she found the Shambhala Meditation Centre of Toronto. “Immediately, this place resonated with me,” Heather remembers. “I really felt a connection with the teachings they were offering here, as well as the community.”
Right from the start, Heather immersed herself in the Shambhala community. “I started attending as many programs as possible,” she explains. Heather also volunteered to welcome guests during open nights and eventually joined the centre’s council. In 2015, Heather was nominated for the position of director of the Shambhala Meditation Centre of Toronto.
