We loved it! It was my husbands 60th birthday. We were a party of 8 at the teppanyaki table. Excellent chef, food, and service. Alex, the manager, was also very helpful as a member of our party had some foods they couldn't eat for health reasons. Very accommodating! Would highly recommend!!
Hello, So the other day my friend was back in town and I thought it would be nice to go grab sushi. I heard about Ten-Ichi from others in the past so I said lets check it out and grab a bite. So we go, get seated pick what we want to eat from the all you can eat lunch menu and gave it to the waiter. The waiter took about 10minutes to bring our miso soup and salad and we thought alright it won't be long until we get our food but was I ever wrong. It took...wait for it.... 50MINUTES before the waiter came back and had to "reorder" our order because he lost our sheet!! ... So by the time we got our food we were upset that we did not even want to eat anymore... and they had the nerve to call last call around 1:50PM when we waited an HOUR for our food. By The Way the TEMPURA FOOD WAS COLD AND GROSS. AND THE STEAK WAS COLD, AND IT WAS COOKED BLUE!!!!!!!!!! Then came time for dessert and I was waiting and waiting for my dessert and it didn't come. I asked the waiter where my dessert was and he said I didn't order it! Are you kidding me?! .... I am a waitress myself and I would NEVER do what he did! It is ignorant, and rude! BY FAR THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE! I have ate at various restaurants in North America, South America and Europe and have never been served like this. And I got the bill and saw they charge 10% for service; in my opinion the waiter did not deserve that much, and when a restaurant charges for service fee then they better serve good!!!
I've been to Ten-Ichi many times and have consistantly had good food and service. The staff have always been friendly and the food always arrives quickly and is delicious. My boyfriend is not a big sushi eater but can always find things on the menu to order because of it's size and diversity. It can get a little crowded on weekends so it is better to make a reservation so there isn't too long of a wait.
This is a great place for tepanaki and sushi. Price is good for what you get. Make sure you get the tepanaki side as the chef cooks it right in front of you. The only problem with this place is if you did not book a reservation, the wait is forever.
I would NOT return Ten-ichi again to start off, We made reservations before hand 3 days in advance to make sure when we arrive everything would be said and done. Well we showed up at the exact time we made reservations for and had to wait 15 minutes before we could be seated because of how unorganized the restaurant was (Our table still had left over plates and food on it) Despite the fact we had to wait 15 minutes before being seated I then ordered a can of pop which costed $2.25 for 1 can which I thought was a bit unreasonable for a CAN of pop... We then started to order and as we picked out what we wanted some things were missing after we handed in the order checklist and we had to keep reminding them that we ordered this and that... Towards the end of the meal they handed us the bill as we were still waiting for our deserts (took 15 minutes alone to bring out the desert to us) And they tried to make us pay first before we even got our deserts which we didnt know if they would even show up. When our deserts finally came we then got the bill which had an automatic 15% TIP added ontop of the bill weither the service was garbage or not it was mandatory when there was only the 3 of us... All in all this place is pathetic overall I never knew tip was mandatory weither we got bad service or not, in my eyes tip is for the server that provides good service... If you love sushi and want good service and reasonable prices I recommend sushi and rolls they dont have mandatory charges, they have great sushi/food and they include drinks with the buffet price.
Despite hearing mixed reviews about Ten-ichi, we decided to try it. We made reservations and anxiously awaited the evening. We ended up regretting our decision. The first thing that shocked me was how dirty the place looked. The carpet, chairs and tables were old and left much to be desired. There were quite a few unidentified small pieces of food remaining on my chair and the waitress didn’t seem to care about it but it was okay, I cleaned it myself. There was a tray storage place right next to my table and it’s hard to believe that they leave that right next to a customer’s table while they were dirty and there were still old pieces of food remaining on them. After being seated, we waited for over 25 minutes before a waitress took our order and then another 20 minutes before the first dish came out. The wait staff was distracted and no one really seemed to care about the customers satisfaction. Although I don’t expect much from an AYCE restaurant, I’ve never seen such a careless service. Not to mention that the service was terribly slow. The food was just okay, nothing to write home about. I usually order dishes made with soft shell crabs in AYCE Japanese restaurant and for the price that I’ve paid, I would have expected to at least be able to eat that kind of dish in this restaurant. The entire experience was a huge disappointment. I find this restaurant to be overpriced for what it is. If you are looking for a decent place to eat with nice food, nice atmosphere and what the heck, a respectful service, this is not the place to go. All in all we visited several much better AYCE restaurants with better service, food and atmosphere. We'll not be returning to this restaurant again.
They used to be a little understaffed, it maybe fixed over the last couple months... their food is AMAZING!! love their rose maki with the avocado & mango puree!! Their mango-yogurt dessert (home made dessert) is delicious as well! Fresh Sushi/Sashimi selection, well seasoned grilled selection!! Just make sure you get a reservation if you don't want to wait 45-90 minutes for seating!!
I really liked the restaurant. It is reasonable prize range for the variety of food you can get. I always go around 5 or 6 pm and there is no waiting time at all. FOOD: There is so many variety in the menu, I saw not only Japanese food, I also saw Korean and Chinese food on the menu. And you have to try the mango yogurt. It is reallyl different and only available in ten-ichi. SERVICE: Waitars and waitresses are extremely friendly. They always served us with a smile on their face and give nice suggestions on the food based on your needs. When the bill arrived, tell they you that they charged you for service so you don't pay tips again. (But the service is great so we gave extra tips) Atmosphere: the restaurant is so lound when there are a lot of people, and the space is quit crowded. But good music and nice decorations.
It was an OK AYCE sushi restaurant. The selection wasn't the best. Food was good but not great. It's a step lower than the usual AYCE sushi place that I visit regularly. The service was not bad. Food arrived relatively fast considering the crowd. They even let us change seats when our neighbors were getting too noisy. I probably would not come to ten-ichi again because it is not worth the drive for me.
This is the best all you can eat sushi in Toronto. Make a reservation for dinner. It is a very popular place so it gets very busy. Expect a wait if you don't make a reservation for dinner. Has a wide variety of tasty Japanese food Sushi, Steak, Chicken, Fish, Seafood, Desserts etc on All you can eat menu at a reasonable price. Love the Shrimp Tempura, spicy salmon maki and mango yogurt dessert.
This is definitely one of the BEST all you can eat Japanese restaurant that I have been to. My future mother in law loves the fact that there is a Teppanyaki table at this place and she is able to enjoy good cooking even at an All you can Eat Place. Their food is really fresh and their rose roll is a favourite with many of the family members. They have a lot of selections and you can see their menu before you go on their website. The service was adequate since they are extremely busy most of the time and it is sometimes difficult for them to always match your order. Because it is very busy, often you sit very close to one another and can be hard to move around sometimes. Overall, I was very pleased and will definitely visit again.
It is a very busy place, so make sure you make reservations, I find the food wonderful, and the price is great for what you get. I go here on a regular basis, and I recommend hot table seating and try the steak :)
Had dinner. This is an all-you-can-eat japanese buffet. They have a good selection of menu. But when it come to the sprimp tempura they limit your order to 4 shrimps at a time. Each order serving comes in small portion. And you don't have much time to re-order because the place is packed always, so service is slow. There is a 10% service included, so you don't have to tip. Since this is a all-you-can-eat, the name doesn't fit them at all. I believe thay have increased their price from some time back.
I'd heard a lot of good things about this place, but was daunted by the negative feedback as of late (see below). Despite everything, my friends really insisted on going and I decided to give it a try, what's the harm, right? Let me tell you, best decision I ever made! We had a reservation so we got seated quickly. I can see how some people would have to wait though, it was sooooo packed. This place is by far one of the busiest restaurants I've ever visited, right up there with Grazie (line ups out the door)... Everything we ordered came quickly and hot, sushi and sashimi were fresh, and best of all they have this mango roses roll (i think?) which I'd never seen anywhere else. On top of that, small mouthfuls of desserts... I think we had a combined total of 20 desserts for the table... :P 2 thumbs way up! I've already made reservations to go again next weekend and bring my boyfriend who is a sushi fanatic.
i've been to tenichi once & it was alright.. so my birthday is coming up & i wanted to reserve seats for 15-20 @ tenichi. i call them & as soon as i speak, the waiter or host, told me to wait immediately. i waited for 15 mins for them so that i could tell them my name, my number and the amount of ppl that're attending. after 15 mins, i decided to hang up because they MUST'VE FORGOTTEN that theres someone waiting on the phone. i call them 3 times after i hung up & waited until the phone couldn't ring anymore (the recording)! such TERRIBLE SERVICE.
Great location for Scarborough-Japanese restaurant goers. Their fish, forgot the name, was amazing. Their buffet items were super fresh BUT they did forget alot of our items and we had to keep reminding them, therefore it came much much later.
Best japanese AYCE in the GTA hands-down. I've been there so often that most of the staff recognize me by name now lol! Great service, great food... I don't think I've ever been disappointed! (To the less-than-satisfied customer below who seems to have been angry enough to post the same angry review on every single restaurant listing website: make a reservation next time!)
I enjoy the dishes at this restaurant greatly. The selection is varied and the food is tasty. This restaurant operates at a medium pace, with average to slightly above-average service, but the food makes up for it. Also, the restaurant is often very busy, so there may be some slow service times. If you do go, make sure you try the mango pudding desserts. I've been to this all-you-can-eat restaurant at least five times already, and the food's always been good.
I haven't eaten the sushi here, but I would have liked to. My boyfriend and I decided to stray from our usual sushi joint to try Ten-Ichi and even drove through a snowstorm to get there. We waited 10 minutes at the door (with no one around mind you) until the snotty male hostess showed up. When he did he asked us how many were in our party, we replied with "two". He then looked at us and said these exact words... "Not tonight" Uhhh... ok? I have never, ever been so outright and blatantly rejected at the entrance of a restaurant in my life. He could have been more polite about it, he could have given us a wait time, he could have given us a reason, but he didn't. We just flat out couldn't eat there. Instead he tried to give us their business card and urged us to come back another time. I rejected his card, proceeded to laugh at him and walked out the door. I will never, ever, return back to this restaurant, EVER AGAIN.
Good food but limited variety compared to other AYCE's and much more expensive (30% more). Slow service and long waits during peak hours. My favourite are their specialty desserts:)
