I have to say that the food is really good. It is really fresh and simple, which is the best way to serve the food. When you spend your hard earned money you want to go out and enjoy a nice meal and know your not getting something that has been re-heated from a microwave. At Fratelli's everything is fresh and made to order. I have been there many many times to only be met with the following. The only huge issue i had with Fratelli's is the service can be cold and kind of rude. The other issue is they don't take reservations, unless you are a party of 8 or over, or as i was so rudely told when i called there. We were told to take our chances and when we did show up we were told that the wait would be an hour. We gave our name to the gentleman and he didn't even bother to write it down. Even though i love the food there with the treatment we recieved i highly doubt i will be going back, which is sad.
My husband and I love Fratelli's. It is a small family owned restaurant that we take all of our friends to. We love the atmosphere and the way Sal and Matteo (the 2 brothers) run the place. We always have a great time, even in the wait line. It is worth the wait when you sit down and enjoy the hot well prepared home-style cooked meal. All of their dishes are the best Italian food I have ever tasted in an Italian restaurant. My favorite is Spaghetti aglio/olio con rappini.
I live 5 min away from Fratelli's, it is by far the best Italian joint in the area. They have the best food and amazing service.
It is a family run, old school pizzeria and the employee and the owners care unlike the chain food service companies.
The food and the service is excellent at the restaurant. The restaurant is small and intimate, so its best to get there early or make a reservation for a special occasion.
There is usually long line ups in the restaurant, especially when the weather is warmer (Spring & Summer).
Fratelli's is an open kitchen trattoria. Food is served Italian style: there are appetizers, salads, pasta plates etc, but unless you are early enough to get the limited 'specials' you are left eating pizza (not my favourite) or a large serving of one item.
When Sal is present, all complaints are forgotten. He makes you feel like you are his favourite customer and the restaurant was opened just to serve you, and that is why we return. When he is not there, you notice the price for the limited menu and the fact that you have to arrive uncomfortably early for dinner to get a seat, and when you do get a seat, you must finish your wine or cappuccino under the hungry stares of those waiting to get in.
I wish they would add a few items to the entrees, allowing me a little variety while my husband eats his pizza, and take reservations so that we don't look at the clock and say:" It's too late to go to Fratelli's, where should we eat?"
Fratellis is a great Italian restaurant with a casual atmosphere in a great location- Highland Creek, Scarborough. Fastastic food and service. It's always busy but never a long wait (trust me, the wait is worth it!). The perfect spot for for amazing pasta or pizza (wood burning stove!) and a nice night out. Highly recomended!
After reading all the review I was expecting more. We arrived early to get a good table. Second people to arrive and still got stuck in a lousey table. I guess we are not regular enough! Our server definatly spent more time with customers he knew so service for us suffered. The food was just OK. Portions were tiny. If we go again it will be because it is close by and I would not go if it is busy.
