We have been with this dance center since it opened 6 years ago. A caring, nurturing environment that makes every dancer feel important and capable. My daughters love going to dance and we are proud to be members of this amazing dance studio.
Both my son and daughter have been dancing here for the last 3 years and I have nothing but praise for the whole team of dance teachers and staff. I've seen my kids develope and grow into
What a great place for your child to grow up. My daughter has been with the studio since it opened. She has grown into a beautiful dancer thanks to the great teaching and support of the staff at Bisland. Because the studio is smaller then most, the teachers have the time to really connect with each student - it's not just about dance, but also about life. As I said before, a great place to be apart of when you are growing up - especially in those tough teenage years.
My daughter has been dancing at BDC for 3 years now, and we love every minute of it. She has grown not just as a dancer, but as a person as well. I opted for the studio, because they keep the classes smaller, so each child can have more one on one time with Kathryn or any of the other instructors. They focus on teaching them how to really dance and enjoy the art. I repeatedly suggest the studio to other parents, because I believe it's a great choice. Thank you Kathryn and team.
Bisland Dance Studio provides an exceptional quality of dance training to ALL its students. Everyone receives the same quality of instruction whether you are a recreational or competitive student. The focus at Bisland is not about winning, it is about individual development and growth! Many years ago as I searched for a dance studio, I quickly learned that this philosophy is not shared by most. You will not be disappointed!
My daughter has been dancing at The Bisland Dance Centre for over 4 years and has enjoyed every moment! The commitment and dedication that Ms. Kathryn and Ms. Chantelle have is amazing. They really care about the students and their passion for dance shows in everything that they do. Ms. Kathryn and Ms. Chantelle are excellent role models for the girls. My daughter has danced at The Bisland Dance Centre for four years and every year has been a wonderful experience. My daughter has learned so much and her confidence level has increased tremendously. Kathryn, Chantelle and the rest if the staff are wonderful. They always treat the dancers with respect and truly care about each dancer's development. The studio does very well in competitions, but also focuses on the importance of exams and recital. The studio has become like an extended family and I am grateful that my daughter is a part of it. I would definitely recommend this studio to anyone looking to put their son or daughter in dance.
My daughter and I came to BIsland Dance this year and we both LOVE it. This is my daughter's second year of dancing at the competitive level, Bisland was recommended to us and we could not be more pleased with our choice. Kathryn is organized, professional and shares her love of dance with all the students. Her faculty share the same passion for dance.
My child is in her 5th year of dance with The Bisland Dance Centre. She has done rec and competitive both and enjoyed both. The classes are small and the teachers push the students to their potential with praise and positive re-enforcement.
This is my daughter`s fifth year dancing competitively at this studio and I wouldn`t go anywhere else. Listening to mothers` stories about dance studios when my daughter became interested made me very hesitant to get involved! Bisland Dance is a smaller company that offers quality instruction for both recreational and competitive dancers. There is never a push to dance competitively if do not choose to and your daughter is not dancing everyday of the week even if they do choose the competitive route. Recitals are exciting but not 3-4 hour extravaganzas! And the best part is - they are really dancing and they LOVE IT !
I wish there would have been reviews written when I was researching dance options for my daughter. This was a very disappointing experience. My first clue should have been when there was only 1 other student in the class who was 3 years older than my daughter. Class always started at least 5 minutes late. The entire class consisted of mostly stretching and then a few twirls at the end. Their definition of 'musical theatre' was sure different than mine and this was commented on by several other spectators watching as well.

Thank you for your feedback. We are always open to suggestions and take pride in providing the best service possible. Our Musical Theatre program is very popular and it incorporates flexibility/stretch, jazz technique, and drama, as all three components are necessary to be successful at it. This is why you saw stretching during the class. Dancers, regardless of the discipline being studied, must have a certain amount of mobility in order to execute the choreography correctly. With regards to the "twirling" you saw, they were most likely working on chaine turns and/or pirouettes -two foundation jazz elements that were being taught to incorporate into the Musical Theatre choreography. With regards to smaller class sizes, this benefits students as they receive more one on one instruction from the teacher and are able to improve at a faster rate. BDC appreciates all feedback and we will continue to provide quality dance lessons where students are taught how to really dance.
