“In our industry, you either run into your customers on the mountain,” says Jarrett, manager of Comor - Go Play Outside’s Burnaby location, “or you make plans to go out there with them.” Participating in outdoor sports leads to tight-knit communities, groups of skiers or riders bound together by their shared interest. Jarrett and the rest of his employees are active members of these communities, and feel an obligation to keep their peers equipped with the right gear for the right task.
“We try to be really involved in the community and part of that means intimately knowing the products we sell,” Jarrett explains. “People trust us to give them the right advice.” This connection to the community also means predicting where it is headed, so they can better anticipate their customers’ demanding, ever-changing needs.
“We pride ourselves on being the first to carry that new product that seems to be changing the industry,” Jarrett explains. “We’re the place to find it. You always know that we have what’s in.”
