Even though Krista Newton offered body piercing services at her mom’s tattoo shop, Body Inc. Tattoo Studio, she never dreamed that she’d be the boss one day. She was only 16 when she made her first steps into the business, which her mom opened in 1998. When her mom decided to move from the area last year, she decided to leave Body Inc. for her daughter to run. Now Krista controls the day-to-day operations, while the mother-daughter team co-owns it together.
“I like the wide variety of customers that we get in Kensington,” Krista says. “We get younger people getting piercings with their moms, businesses-oriented people from downtown, and we also get a few grandmothers and grandfathers too!”
