Laura Tedesco was introduced to her passion and destiny early in life. “I’m a third generation jeweller and my dad owned Venetian Jewellers in Hamilton,” she explains, referring to her father’s iconic store where she kicked off her career in 1999. In 2008 her passion took her to Italy, where she spent three months studying jewellery design. “When I came back, I started custom designing jewellery at my dad’s store,” says Laura. “I realized I needed a studio space so I opened up on Locke Street in 2011.”
With that debut, Laura Tedesco Jewellery Design was born. Laura's dad, Dino Tedesco, retired in 2013 and started helping out at the studio. Her husband John Eleftheriou, who also worked in a creative industry, came on board in early 2015. “He does the computer aid design, so I’ll sketch a design and he draws it on the computer programs so it looks 3D,” she explains. Laura's venture had become a family business once again.
