The city, the sky and mountains look especially beautiful from the ocean. For over a decade, Magic Yacht Charters has been hosting elegant yacht tours in the waters around Vancouver, sharing these views with their guests.
When Chris Boycott, the owner of Adventure Abroad, took over the business in July of 2010 he knew the appeal of Vancouver from the water, and saw room to grow. To the existing fleet, which comprised the Charm and the Moment, he added two yachts, the Magic Hornblower in 2011 and the Magic Spirit in 2013. Whether a client would like to get out on the water with a group of 10 or take out all four vessels with capacity for over 700 people, Magic Yacht Charters can accommodate with style.
Sabina Smirnow, the sales and service manager, notes that a wide variety of clients book with the company. “We do anything from birthday parties, weddings and corporate functions, to private parties, bands, dances and DJ events. Pretty much anything that the client wants, we're open to.”
Each boat has at least one bar (three in the case of the Magic Spirit), a distinct décor, a well-trained crew, and options for food and drink service. Trips can be customized according to the needs of the client, with a range of options for food, the length of the tour and the destination.
A few popular destinations are over to Bowen Island, Indian Arm or into False Creek. The busy season is in the summer when skies are clear and conditions are optimal for an evening on the water, but Magic Yacht Charters is available year round. Most groups will book for three to four hours as this is long enough to get the experience, go somewhere different, and enjoy the voyage.
