Mountain View Bowl offers both five- and 10-pin bowling and frequently hosts corporate gatherings, parties, wedding receptions, fundraising events and visits from school groups. But you can also just come in for a fun evening of bowling whenever you would like.
Originally owned by the Patterson family of Calgary, Mountain View Bowl was totally renovated when it was purchased by Greg Maclean in 2007.
A self-described "hockey guy," Greg retired from being a VP for Shaw Communications in Calgary and soon went hunting for a new line of work. “The only time I bowled was with my hockey team," he jokes. But Greg knew that bowling was calling his name when he set his sights on Mountain View Bowl.
However, the bowling alley he purchased was out of date and desperately needed new equipment. "The lanes needed to be replaced and the computers were about 20 years old. The place looked dated," he recalls.
Since buying the bowling alley in 2007, Greg has been able to restore Mountain View Bowl to its former glory and then some. "We have a 1950s retro feel now," explains long-time employee Evelyn Ashton. "There are posters of Jimmy Dean and Marilyn Monroe, checkerboard tables and a lovely lounge area where people can relax with a drink."
